Neom committed to deliver first phase of The Line on time

Neom is concentrating its efforts on delivering the first phase of The Line, with a new submission deadline of 24 March for firms bidding on raft foundation works at the Hidden Marina section.

Key Developments:

·        The raft foundations will be constructed across three sections: North Blade, Canyon, and South Blade.

·        The tendering process has been divided into six lots covering modules 45, 46, and 47, starting with lots 1 and 2 of module 46.

·        Module 46 spans 311m x 200m, with the North Blade and South Blade each measuring 311m x 60m, and the Canyon covering 311m x 80m.

·        A record-breaking 43,000 cubic meters of concrete will be poured for the mega core raft.

Engineering and Infrastructure:

·        The Line’s marina requires a 165-meter-wide waterway through 500-meter-tall buildings, presenting a major engineering challenge.

·        Piling work began in 2023, with nine contractors engaged through a framework agreement, moving 1 million cubic meters of earth weekly.

·        More than 120 foundation piles are being installed weekly as part of the infrastructure development.

Project Scope:

·        The first phase will cover 2.5km across three modules, spanning 21 million sq m and accommodating approximately 200,000 residents.

·        In November 2024, Neom appointed leading consultancy firms to oversee the city's core planning, design, and engineering:

o   Delugan Meissl Associate Architects (Austria) – Urban Designer

o   Gensler (US) – City Planning Consultant

o   Mott MacDonald (UK) – City Infrastructure Engineer

Future Steps:

·        A newly established design ecosystem with rigorous methodologies will guide The Line’s execution.

·        Starting in early 2025, a suite of architects will undertake neighborhood planning and design.

·        Neom remains committed to delivering world-class infrastructure and enabling works for The Line’s first phase.

Denis Hickey, Chief Development Officer at The Line, reaffirmed at the PIF Private Sector Forum 2025 that Neom is focused on the first phase, ensuring seamless urban development and engineering innovation.
