Saudi Green Initiative: Tanmiah Food Company playing role in planting trees
Tanmiah Food Company announced its active participation in the 4th Saudi
Green Initiative (SGI) Forum, held December 3-4, 2024, alongside the 16th
session of the United Nations Conference of the Parties to Combat
Desertification (COP16). Hosted in Riyadh from December 2-13, COP16 marks the
largest multilateral environmental conference in Saudi Arabia, drawing policymakers,
business leaders, and experts from around the globe.
Sustainability at the
Forefront
For the second consecutive year, Tanmiah has taken part in COP events,
following its 2023 appearance at COP28 in Dubai under the SGI pavilion. At
COP16, Tanmiah showcases its environmental efforts through an exhibition stand
highlighting key afforestation projects such as the One Million Trees
initiative in Saudi Arabia and the 100,000 Trees project in Bahrain,
part of the broader Green Middle East Initiative.

Innovation in Action
Tanmiah also presents its groundbreaking sustainability projects, including:
- Omnipreneurship Awards Challenge: Launched in
2020, this $1 million global competition focuses on innovative
environmental solutions. The winning project—a biodegradable plastic
derived from poultry waste—is featured at the Tanmiah pavilion.
- Desert Farming Solutions: Shortlisted projects
from the 2022 Omnipreneurship Awards address desertification and transform
barren land into cultivable fields for sustainable food production.
