Agreements signed with four leading companies to construct King Salman International Airport

The King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC) has announced the signing of agreements with four leading companies—Foster + Partners, Jacobs, Mace, and Saudi-based Nera—to construct one of the world’s largest airports as part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative.

KSIADC’s partnership with these local and international firms marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of King Salman International Airport (KSIA). Set to cover 57 square kilometers, KSIA will be a critical component of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030, designed to diversify Saudi Arabia's economy beyond oil by establishing the country as a major hub for international travel. The airport is expected to handle 100 million passengers annually by 2030. The project will prioritize sustainability, featuring low-carbon design, renewable energy use, and technological innovations aimed at achieving LEED Platinum Certification, all while offering a unique travel experience.

Roles of Partner Companies

Foster + Partners:
The global architecture and design firm will be responsible for the airport’s masterplan, covering the entire 57-square-kilometer area. Their design includes multiple terminals, six runways, and a multi-asset real estate area. Seif A. Bahaa Eldin, Senior Partner at Foster + Partners, noted, "The masterplan brings together a revolutionary design concept that prioritizes the passenger experience while creating a new gateway for Riyadh."

Jacobs:
The international engineering firm will handle concept masterplan validation, detailed masterplan design, and runway designs. Keith Lawson, Senior Vice President at Jacobs, emphasized that the project supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by showcasing the Kingdom and diversifying its economy.

This includes project and program management, construction oversight, cost management, and sustainability initiatives. Mace's CEO, Davendra Dabasia, described the project as a "game-changing infrastructure program" with unmatched ambition in sustainability and innovation.

Nera:
The Saudi company Nera will design the airspace to enhance air traffic efficiency using cutting-edge technologies. They will implement remote digital towers equipped with high-performance cameras, night vision, augmented reality, and advanced computing techniques to maximize situational awareness and improve safety.

This ambitious project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to elevate the Kingdom’s status as a global leader in aviation and economic development.
