Qiddiya Performing Arts Center integrates AR, VR, and AI technologies
The Qiddiya Investment Company is developing a state-of-the-art performing
arts center aimed at transforming the entertainment landscape in Riyadh, in
line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Situated on the picturesque Tuwaiq cliffs,
the Qiddiya Performing Arts Center is expected to draw 800,000 visitors
annually and aims to attract 10 million visitors over the next decade.
The center will incorporate cutting-edge technologies, including Virtual and
Augmented Reality, and will host around 260 performances each year. This
initiative will create a dynamic cultural hub, offering valuable opportunities
for both emerging and established artists from Saudi Arabia and around the
world.
“Qiddiya City embodies our commitment not only to entertainment and sports
but also to the preservation and elevation of Saudi culture. The introduction
of the Qiddiya Performing Arts Center heralds a new era of artistic expression
and community engagement,” said Abdullah Aldawood, managing director of Qiddiya

Located 45 km from Riyadh, the center is designed by renowned American
architect Tom Wiscombe, with BSBG serving as the Lead Design Consultant. The
bold and dramatic design features illuminated blades on the main building and
three additional structures housing retail, education, dining, sky gardens, and
art galleries, all set against the stunning mountain backdrop.
At night, the Qiddiya Performing Arts Center transforms into a vibrant space
with integrated lighting, digital media, and sound. The external façade
features LED color-changing lights, video projections, and digital
entertainment, creating an immersive experience within the natural setting of
Qiddiya.
Dr. Osama Ghanem Al-Obaidy, a professor from the Institute of Public
Administration in Riyadh, commented, “The new performing arts center is a
significant cultural initiative that will contribute to the promotion of Saudi
culture and heritage to both residents and foreign visitors alike. It will
allow the year-round enjoyment of community, cultural, and entertainment areas
showcasing various aspects of Saudi culture, including music, dancing, and folk
arts. It will provide a platform for individuals from diverse cultural
backgrounds to showcase their talents through various cultural events.”
