Neom advances Trojena dams project with commercial negotiations
Neom, the visionary project in Saudi Arabia, has completed
the technical evaluation phase for the Trojena dams. Currently, the client and
selected contractors are engaged in negotiations regarding the commercial
aspects of the project.
Neom initiated an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process
earlier this year, involving three prominent contractors—Al-Ayuni (Saudi
Arabia), Limak (Turkey), PowerChina (China), and WeBuild (Italy). The ECI
process required the submission of methodologies and design proposals.
Following the technical evaluation of proposals, Neom is in
the negotiation phase with the selected contractors. The final decision will
determine the contractor for the 26-month contract.
The Trojena dams, estimated to cost around $2 billion, are
pivotal for the creation of a central lake at the Trojena mountain resort, set
to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games.
Main Dam: With a height of 145 meters and a length of
475 meters at its crest, the main dam will utilize 2.7 million cubic meters of
roller compact concrete (RCC).

Secondary Dam: A kidney-shaped dam, 38 meters in
height and 700 meters in length, will use 650,000 cubic meters of RCC. It will
connect to Lake Village via an underwater tunnel and feature attractions like
the Enchanted Forest.
Third Dam: Standing at 65 meters in height and 490
meters in length at its crest, the third dam will be constructed using 4.15
million cubic meters of rockfill. It includes features such as the lakebed line
and foundations for the Bow Building.
The project involves the expertise of Singapore's Surbana
Jurong as the engineer for the lake, with Aecom as the executive program
manager. Bechtel, based in the US, was awarded the project management
consultancy services contract for the Trojena development.

TROJENA awards contract for 4.4 km NEOM time travel tunnel
Neom recently awarded a significant infrastructure
development contract worth SR4.5 billion ($1.2 billion) to a joint venture of
Al-Ayuni Investment & Contracting and Limak Holding. This contract covers
the construction of a tunnel, freight depot, and excavation works at Trojena.
The Neom Time Travel tunnel, spanning 4.4 km, features
twin-bored tunnels, ventilation shafts, and an at-grade section. The project is
a crucial component of Neom's ambitious development plans, emphasizing
sustainability and innovation. Stay tuned for further updates on this
transformative initiative.
