Saudi Call and Shanghai Lumaotong Group to establish 100MW Data Centers
in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Call, a prominent ICT service provider in Saudi Arabia, entered
into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in Riyadh with Shanghai Lumaotong Group
(LMT) and China Mobile International Limited (CMI) on September 11.
This strategic collaboration is aimed at encouraging investment in the
construction of cutting-edge data centers within Saudi Arabia.
As per the terms of the MoA, the partnering entities will harness their
respective expertise to jointly spearhead the development of 100MW Tier III
& Tier IV Saudi Call Crownland Data Centers, strategically located in
Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and NEOM.
These state-of-the-art facilities will offer comprehensive solutions
encompassing storage, network coverage, and database services, catering to the
evolving demands of the region's Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence,
Cybersecurity, and Big Data sectors.
Shanghai Lumaotong Group, in collaboration with Saudi Call, is initiating
a joint venture to invest in the establishment of these data centers. CMI, as
the project partner, will lead the initiative alongside their in-kingdom
technology partner, ICS Arabia. They will be responsible for the design,
construction, operation, and maintenance of the 100MW Data Center.
Notably, ICS Arabia has previously designed and delivered a Tier III+
Data Center — Rakeeza for the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA). The
signing ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent entities such as MXC
Security, Modon Tech, China Crownland, and others, collectively reinforcing
their commitment to the successful execution of this groundbreaking project.
Ibrahim M. Al Sheikh, Chairman of Saudi Call, stated, “Having evolved
over more than two decades in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Call has evolved into a
diversified group company that integrates trade, manufacturing, and services.
Saudi Call eagerly anticipates contributing to the Kingdom's digital
transformation and the realization of Vision 2030. We are excited to
collaborate and form this alliance with LMT, CMI, and ICS Arabia to introduce
100MW Tier III & IV Data Centers that align with the Kingdom's strategic
objectives.”
Zhan Lujin, Chairman of LMT Group, remarked, “LMT is committed to
introducing various emerging industry sectors to Saudi Arabia, spanning new
energy, new materials, cross-border e-commerce, and bulk trade trading
platforms. This Data Center construction project will cater to the information
and data service needs of these industries, as well as enterprises across Saudi
Arabia, in support of the Belt and Road Initiative projects in the region.”
Bonnie Chen, Managing Director of CMI Saudi Arabia, added, “Leveraging
our extensive network resources and leading Data Center service capabilities,
CMI will provide a comprehensive and professional solution for this Data Center
project. Our aim is to establish an industry-leading, high-grade Data Center in
collaboration with all stakeholders, ensuring top-quality and secure data
transmission services that foster the growth of the global digital economy.”
Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Ministry of Communications and
Information Technology initiated a strategic development plan for data centers
in 2021. The signing of this MoA marks a pivotal milestone in the collaboration
between Saudi Call, LMT, and CMI within the Data Center sector. It will also
catalyze the digital advancement of Saudi Arabia, propelling the realization of
the nation's ambitious "Vision 2030."
