NEOM is looking to
become a pioneer in sports innovation, marking a significant milestone in its
journey. In a thrilling development, Microsoft's Global Sports Innovation
Center (GSIC) recently introduced the "NEOM Sports Open Innovation
Program" in partnership with NEOM. The program's primary objective is to
revolutionize the sports industry by harnessing cutting-edge technologies, with
a particular focus on artificial intelligence and adventure sports.
Iris Cordoba, the
General Manager of GSIC, hailed this initiative as a "golden
opportunity" for both startups and established companies to shape the
future of sports by harmonizing technology, nature, and sustainability. She
expressed a commitment to creating a vibrant network that fosters innovation
and unlocks the untapped potential for innovation in the realm of sports.
Cordoba also revealed that the center has forged collaborations with five
prominent global sports tech companies to expedite the program's progress.

Jan Paterson, the
Managing Director of NEOM Sport, emphasized the perfect alignment of this
collaborative endeavor with NEOM's long-term vision. NEOM aspires to establish

lifestyles and ensuring an exceptional living environment for its residents and
visitors. Paterson described the program as a catalyst for achieving growth and
development across all facets of the sports sector in NEOM, ranging from
cultivating diverse healthy and active lifestyles to fostering a
high-performance culture, organizing quality events, enhancing infrastructure,
and activating partnerships. Ultimately, NEOM aims to solidify its position as
a regional hub for sports and innovation.
Paterson issued a call
to action for startups and companies to participate in the program,
highlighting its potential to contribute to the advancement of adventure sports
and artificial intelligence, thereby exerting a lasting influence on the sports
sector.
NEOM will provide
program participants with a distinctive environment conducive to developing
innovative solutions, elevating performance levels, and exploring new horizons
in the field. The program also promises enriching experiences, including
expert-led sessions and interactive activities designed to unlock the potential
of participating firms.

of the program can expect to receive a range of incentives, including a complimentary
membership in the GSIC, a cash prize of up to €50,000 to fund the

program winners will be invited to spend a week at NEOM's headquarters,
affording them the opportunity to gain firsthand insights into various aspects
of the sports business landscape while immersing themselves in the work
environment. They will also be extended an exclusive invitation to a
collaborative event organized by NEOM and GSIC in 2024.
Applications for the
program opened on September 12 and will remain open until October 12, with the
announcement of winners scheduled for November 23. This marks an exciting
