Hyundai to install 450
transmission towers in Saudi city Neom
Hyundai Engineering
& Construction has won a $145 million contract for power transmission line
in Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion futuristic city Neom.
According to reports
from South Korean media, Hyundai Engineering & Construction has emerged as
the winner of a substantial $145 million contract aimed at constructing a power
transmission line in Saudi Arabia. This project entails the installation of
approximately 450 transmission towers designed to support over 200 kilometers
of cable, establishing a crucial link between the Neom development area in the
northwest of the kingdom and the Red Sea port of Yanbu.
The Neom development
zone encompasses an expansive area of around 26,500 square kilometers and
encompasses diverse emerging ventures, including a floating port, a ski resort,
and a pioneering initiative known as "The Line," an impressive linear
city stretching over 170 kilometers.
This power
transmission line will be engineered as a 525kV direct current (DC) line, and
it is projected to be delivered as a comprehensive turnkey project, with an
anticipated completion date set for July 2027.
A representative from
Hyundai conveyed, "Since our initial entry into the Saudi construction
market in 1975, we have effectively executed 16 significant projects, including
the Amiral Project and the Neom Running Tunnel. This history of accomplishment
has engendered trust from the Saudi government and our clients over the
years."
