Focus on sustainability emphasized in Riyadh's bid to host Expo 2030
During the High-Level Political Forum on
Sustainable Development 2023, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City has highlighted
how their bid to host Expo 2030 aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable
Development Goals, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the presentation took place alongside those of 38 other participating nations, where each country showcased their efforts in implementing the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its associated SDGs.
The outcomes of the
forum will be assessed by the Bureau International des Expositions, responsible
for overseeing and regulating international expos, which will ultimately select
the winning bid for Expo 2030.
The forum, held under
the theme "Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease
(COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development at all levels," took place from July 10 to 19 at the United
Nations headquarters in New York.
