Bechtel to perform project management at Neom’s Trojena

The US-based construction company, Bechtel, will carry out project management for Trojena, a mountain resort in Saudi Arabia’s Neom region.

Trojena is part of Neom’s regional plan and is located 50 kilometers from the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba. It has elevations ranging from 1,500m to 2,600m and comprises an area of nearly 60 square kilometers.

The Trojena project has been designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, UNStudio, Aedas, LAVA, and Bureau Proberts.

Trojena will host the 2029 Asian Winter Games, making it the first country in Middle East to do so.

Trojena is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of increasing tourism and diversifying its economy. After winning the bid, TROJENA will offer the Gulf’s first outdoor ski experience and host the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

“Neom is without question the most ambitious project in living memory, and we are proud to expand our role to support the TROJENA project,” said Jake Mumm, Bechtel’s regional managing director for Infrastructure.

Philip Gullett, Executive Director of Trojena, said in the press release: “Neom and Trojena continue to attract international firms as collaborators of a new future where people can live, work, and play in harmony with nature. Our vision defies current industry practices and lays the foundation of what sustainable regional and tourist developments can be.” he added.
