Construction accelerates at Formula 1's most ambitious avenue in Saudi Arabia
Construction is accelerating on one of Formula
1’s most ambitious new venues, as fresh images reveal progress on Saudi
Arabia’s Qiddiya
Speed Park, home to the circuit’s towering signature corner, The Blade.
Designed with input from former F1 driver
Alexander Wurz, The Blade will rise to the height of a 20-storey building,
forming a key part of a track layout that features 108 metres of elevation
change, promising a rollercoaster-style lap unlike anything currently on the F1
calendar.
The circuit is integrated into the wider Qiddiya City development, a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The complex will combine motorsport, entertainment, and sports, including theme parks, a stadium for the 2034 men’s FIFA World Cup, and attractions like a record-breaking rollercoaster. Much of the track will wind alongside these major features, enhancing its spectacle-driven appeal.

Drivers are already taking notice. Lando
Norris described the venue as “pretty crazy,” praising Saudi Arabia for
creating a track that is both lively and visually striking, rather than a
remote or uninspiring circuit.
Originally slated for earlier completion, the circuit is now expected to be finished in 2027, with the first F1 race scheduled for 2028, taking over from the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, which has hosted the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix since 2021.
