Saudi Arabia: Royal Commission for AlUla organizes event to promote agriculture
The second AlUla Peregrina
Season, part of the Khayrat
AlUla initiative, concluded on Saturday at Al-Manshiyah Farmers Market,
according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Organized by the Royal
Commission for AlUla in partnership with AlUla Peregrina, the two-day event
celebrated the region’s agricultural heritage while promoting a sustainable
local economy.
The season placed a spotlight on peregrina, one
of AlUla’s rarest and most valued agricultural products, known for its high
quality and nutritional benefits and cultivated using traditional farming
practices. The centuries-old peregrina tree is a native desert species long
associated with Arabian culture for its cosmetic, nutritional and therapeutic
uses.

Local farmers and producers showcased fresh
produce and peregrina-based products, alongside exhibitions exploring the
plant’s history, cultivation and traditional harvesting techniques. The program
also featured live cooking demonstrations focused on farm-to-table cuisine,
cultural performances, children’s activities and interactive workshops.
According to the SPA, AlUla Peregrina promoted
the nutritional and economic value of peregrina, supporting agricultural value
chains and empowering local farmers.
