Saudi Arabia strengthening its role in data and artificial intelligence
Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its role in data and
artificial intelligence (AI) through ambitious regulatory and developmental
strategies. Central to this progress is the Saudi Data and Artificial
Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), established six years ago to position the
Kingdom as a global center for advanced technology leadership. Its mission
aligns closely with Saudi Vision
2030 and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Under the leadership of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin
Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of SDAIA’s Board
of Directors, the authority leads national efforts in AI governance,
innovation, and talent development. These initiatives are driving the Kingdom’s
competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global tech landscape.
Riyadh: Emerging as a global AI innovation hub
Saudi Arabia’s Global AI Summits—held in 2020, 2022, and
2024—have played a pivotal role in establishing Riyadh as a global gathering
place for AI experts, innovators, and policymakers.

- 2020 Summit: Featured more than 30 sessions, laying the foundation for international dialogue on AI.
- 2022 Summit: Welcomed over 200 speakers and 10,000 participants, culminating in the creation of the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics in Riyadh.
- 2024 Summit: Attracted 30,000 attendees and introduced major initiatives such as the International AI Olympiad and the Arabic Large Language Model “ALLaM.”
These summits have also produced major partnerships with
global institutions including the United Nations and the Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Development, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s influence in
shaping international AI standards and collaboration.
Anticipation is now building for the fourth Global AI Summit,
expected to serve as a key platform for strategic global dialogue at a time
when AI’s future is being actively debated by governments, tech companies, and
communities worldwide.

International Conference Center, where global decision-makers will convene to
