Six Flags Qiddiya City of Saudi Arabia set to open in late 2025 with tallest roller coaster

Six Flags Qiddiya City, a landmark theme park under development in Saudi Arabia, is now expected to open in late 2025, according to the company’s latest update. The park will feature several world-record attractions, including the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world.

Earlier in the day, Six Flags initially shared an opening window of “the first half of 2026” in a press release, but later clarified that the park’s debut is anticipated before the end of 2025. The company has since revised the statement to reflect the updated timeline.

Selim Bassoul, Executive Chairman of Six Flags, will step down at the end of 2025 but will remain involved as a consultant to help oversee the final stages of the park’s development and ensure its successful launch.

“Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue supporting the company through the completion of Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia — a landmark project that will showcase the next generation of entertainment experiences,” said Bassoul. “It represents not only a bold step for Six Flags, but a vision of what the future of theme parks can be.”

Record-breaking attractions

Announced in 2019, Six Flags Qiddiya City will introduce several world-first experiences, including:

  • Falcon’s Flight – The world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, reaching 155 mph and a height of 639 feet.
  • Sirocco Tower – The tallest free-standing shot ride in the world at 475 feet.
  • Iron Rattler – The tallest tilt coaster globally, standing 208 feet tall.
  • Gyrospin – The tallest pendulum ride in the world, measuring 173 feet.

A new era for Six Flags

The project marks a significant shift for the brand, following the 2024 merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair, which created a combined portfolio of 56 parks across North America. Six Flags Qiddiya City will be the company’s first large-scale venture outside that region, highlighting its global ambitions.

With construction in advanced stages and several key attractions nearing completion, Six Flags Qiddiya City is poised to become a global destination for theme park enthusiasts when it opens its gates later this year.
