Red Sea Global officially opens first island golf course on Shura Island

Red Sea Global (RSG) has officially opened Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course, located on Shura Island at the heart of The Red Sea destination. The launch marks a major milestone for the Kingdom’s luxury tourism and sports development agenda under Vision 2030.

Designed by acclaimed golf architect Brian Curley and managed by Golf Saudi, the par-72, 7,400-yard course offers a distinctive coastal links experience. Carved through native mangroves and sweeping dunes, the layout follows the Red Sea shoreline, blending seamlessly with the island’s natural topography and aligning with RSG’s regenerative tourism principles.

“The opening of Shura Links is a landmark achievement in the Kingdom’s pursuit of global leadership in sports and tourism. It reflects the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 and underscores PIF’s commitment to unlocking new sectors that diversify our economy and elevate quality of life,” said Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of Golf Saudi.

“More than a world-class golf course, Shura Links represents how this unique destination can become an engine for investment, luxury tourism, and sustainable opportunity.”

A social and sporting landmark

At the heart of Shura Links is a beachfront clubhouse, designed as a vibrant social hub. Inspired by the island’s native flora and fauna, the clubhouse offers panoramic views of the 18th green, elevated dining experiences, boutique retail, and leisure spaces that enhance the visitor experience.

“Shura Links sets a new benchmark for golf in the region. It’s more than a course — it’s a destination for connection, challenge, and appreciation of The Red Sea’s natural beauty,” said John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global.

“This is another proud milestone in our mission to reshape global tourism through sustainability and design, and a significant step in building Red Sea Global’s growing sports portfolio in alignment with Vision 2030.”

Shura Island opening soon

Shura Links is the first of many major openings on Shura Island, which is set to begin welcoming guests in the coming weeks. Phase one will include the debut of luxury hotels from SLS, EDITION, and InterContinental.

Eventually, the island will be home to 11 world-class resorts, including properties from Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles, and Rosewood — all set to open in the coming months.
