Saudi Arabia: FIA Extreme H World Cup will take place in Qiddiya City
The FIA Extreme H World Cup, the world’s first hydrogen-powered motorsport
championship, has confirmed Qiddiya
City, Saudi Arabia, as the venue for its debut race, scheduled
for October 9–11, 2025.
Qiddiya City, envisioned as the world’s first city dedicated entirely to
play, will host the event against the dramatic backdrop of the Tuwaiq Mountains.
The site is being developed into a leading motorsport destination, aligning
with Saudi Arabia’s bold vision for the future of sports and entertainment.
Alejandro Agag, Founder and Chairman of Extreme H, described Qiddiya City as
the perfect stage for the new championship:
“Qiddiya City is the ideal launchpad for the FIA Extreme H World Cup – a
visually stunning and technologically ambitious venue that reflects innovation,
sustainability, and entertainment. This is more than a race; it’s a statement
of intent and a showcase of hydrogen’s potential in motorsport.”
A new era for motorsport
The inaugural Extreme H race will take place on a specially designed
off-road course, reinforcing Qiddiya City’s ambition to become a global hub for

Central to this vision is the newly revealed Speed Park Track, a world-class
circuit featuring dramatic elevation changes, the 20-storey “Blade” turn, and
integration with major attractions including Six Flags Qiddiya City Theme Park
and Aquarabia. While not the site of the debut Extreme H race, the track
highlights Qiddiya’s commitment to cutting-edge motorsport experiences.
Abdullah AlDawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company,
emphasized the city’s broader mission:
“Qiddiya City is designed as a destination for play and a model of sustainable
urban development. Hosting the first FIA Extreme H World Cup underscores our
dedication to sustainable motorsport and positions Saudi Arabia as a global hub
for future-focused experiences.”
Sustainability at the core
Extreme H and Qiddiya City share a strong commitment to sustainability.
Qiddiya’s urban masterplan targets net zero emissions by 2060, supported by
initiatives such as 100% wastewater reuse, renewable energy infrastructure, EV
charging across 80% of parking spaces, and large-scale tree planting. These
efforts are aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to plant 10
billion trees nationwide by 2030.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem praised the event’s pioneering spirit:
“The Extreme H World Cup represents a major step forward in sustainable
motorsport, harnessing advanced hydrogen technology to push boundaries. Qiddiya
City is a fitting host, sharing our vision for innovation and a greener
future.”

“Extreme H’s first event will also feature the last Extreme E race, offering
fans double the action and a celebration of what Extreme E achieved before we
begin this exciting new chapter.”
Eng. Mansour Almokbel, CEO of Saudi Motorsport Company, added:
