Saudi Arabia to build $133 million ship refueling centre at King Fahd Industrial Port

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has partnered with the National Petroleum & Petrochemical Tank & Pipelines Company (Petrotank) to develop an integrated ship refueling centre at King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu.

The facility, to be constructed on a 110,700 m² site, represents a $133 million investment over 20 years. It will feature advanced fuel storage and bunkering services aimed at attracting more vessels, boosting port traffic, and supporting Saudi Arabia’s maritime economy.

The project supports Mawani’s strategy to enhance the competitiveness of Saudi ports by expanding fuel and oil infrastructure — a key component for delivering high-quality logistics services and managing increased ship traffic. It also aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which seeks to invest over $266.7 billion by 2030 and position the Kingdom as a leading global logistics hub.

Petrotank, already a strategic partner at the port, operates an existing fuel station with eight tanks and a total storage capacity of 114,000 m³, playing a vital role in supporting ship operations.

Located on the Red Sea coast, King Fahd Industrial Port is one of Saudi Arabia’s most important industrial gateways, handling petroleum, refined products, and diverse cargo. Spanning 6.8 km², it boasts 34 berths, 10 terminals, and a handling capacity of up to 210 million tonnes annually.
