Diriyah wins two Mostadam (Ajwad) awards 

Diriyah Company has been awarded two prestigious Mostadam (Ajwad) sustainability certifications by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Quality of Life Program and Vision 2030. Recognized for the Northern Diriyah Area and Ritz-Carlton Residences development projects, the announcement was made on the first day of the Cityscape Global event, “The Future of Living,” held in Riyadh from November 11-14.

Sustainability Milestones

The Mostadam certification, granted through the Ajwad initiative, rates projects based on sustainability metrics such as increased green spaces, safe pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, and water conservation practices like reusing treated wastewater for irrigation. To date, 74 projects have joined the Ajwad initiative, including five Diriyah developments, with two recently achieving certification:

• Diriyah North: Masterplan Certification – Diamond Level
• Ritz-Carlton Residences: Asset Certification – Gold Level

Three additional Diriyah projects are expected to secure Mostadam certifications next year. Diriyah North achieved an impressive 86 points on the Mostadam scale, meeting the Diamond certification standard — the highest available. Sustainable measures include fully meeting irrigation needs with treated wastewater, providing 46% shaded walkways, and dedicating 25% of the area to parks and green spaces.

Ongoing Recognition and Sustainability Achievements

Diriyah’s recent accolades add to its impressive track record of sustainability achievements. In 2023, Diriyah’s Masterplan became the first project in the Middle East to achieve LEED Platinum certification at the masterplan level. The Wadi Safar masterplan also received the region's first SITES Gold precertification, while Bujairi and Samhan Car Parks were awarded Parksmart GOLD pre-certification in 2022 and 2023, respectively, for their sustainability initiatives.
