Neom rail depot project receives bids
Contractors have submitted their bids for the Neom rail depot project, with
post-tender clarification bids received on April 4. This project involves the
relocation of the Connector Depot, which serves the rail line connecting Oxagon
Industrial City to the Spine.
The depot will consist of two separate facilities: one for high-speed rail rolling stock and the other for freight and infrastructure rolling stock
maintenance. Additionally, the infrastructure depot will include provisions for storing and distributing materials necessary for railway infrastructure maintenance at Neom.

The Spine, an infrastructure corridor running parallel to The Line, encompasses a high-speed rail and the Connector South, linking the
industrial zone of Oxagon to The Line. Aecom from the US serves as the design consultant, with Bechtel as the project management consultant for The Spine railway network project.
Construction activities for the Neom railway network have already commenced. In May 2023, a joint venture between Italy-based Webuild and Riyadh-based Shibh Al Jazira Contracting (Sajco) secured a $1.5 billion contract to construct the Connector South line, encompassing various components such as earthworks, viaducts, roads, rail underpasses, and infrastructure maintenance depots.

Neom was also slated to receive bids by the end of March for the provision of rolling stock for both high-speed and freight railways alongside The Line, connecting to Oxagon. This infrastructure corridor will extend southward from The Line to Neom City Station through Neom Bay Mansions and Neom Bay airport, culminating at Oxagon.
Prioritizing railway construction work, Neom aims to streamline upcoming construction contracts for the infrastructure corridor alongside The Line, as reported by MEED in May last year.
