Saudi Arabia’s Neom to confer
contracts for water reservoir connecting Oxagon and The Line
Neom is set to confer contracts for the early phases of
crucial water reservoir infrastructure connecting Oxagon and The Line in Saudi
Arabia. Anticipated during the first quarter of this year, the contract awards
encompass site preparatory works for the Oxagon main storage reservoirs, the
High Point Reservoir Expansion, and the Red Desert Reservoirs.
For the Oxagon Main Storage Reservoirs, the Request for
Proposal (RFP) for packages one, two, and three was issued in May of the
previous year, covering site clearing, earth moving, excavation, rock breaking,
disposal, hauling, stockpiling, and road establishment over an area of 804,500
square meters. High Point Reservoir expansion's RFP for early works packages
one and two was issued on October 9, with a scope covering 1,458,000 square
meters across 15 reservoirs.
Penn
State University and Neom’s ENOWA to work on sustainable water solutions
The Red Desert Reservoirs RFP for packages one and two,
issued in November, includes site preparatory works over 1,000,000 square
meters, encompassing early works for reservoirs, pipe culverts, ancillary
buildings, and an access road.
The construction periods for these projects range from four
to seven months, commencing from their respective start dates. The project
management consultant for these endeavors is the US-based Bechtel Corporation.

These initiatives play a crucial role in the Neom regional
transmission strategy for 2045, focusing on developing a water network to meet
the potable water needs of the Neom region and accommodate the expected demand
for nine million residents. MEED Projects data indicates that Neom and its
subsidiary Enowa awarded over $900 million worth of water utility contracts in
the first 11 months of 2023.
