Consortium of Saudi Archirodon and DEME secures NEOM port contract
In a significant development, a consortium consisting of
Saudi Archirodon and DEME has successfully secured the second phase of
transformative work at the Port of NEOM, the primary seaport serving northwest
Saudi Arabia. Situated in Oxagon, the Port of NEOM strategically aligns itself
along the Red Sea coast, adjacent to the vital Suez Canal, which facilitates
13% of global trade.
The awarded contract is pivotal to NEOM's overall
construction, operational activities, and economic aspirations. This
cutting-edge port is envisioned to play a crucial role in facilitating the
importation of goods and materials throughout the development phase, ultimately
serving as a new global port catering to the region.

Christopher Iwens, Managing Director Dredging at DEME,
expressed pride in securing this significant project. He emphasized the
consortium's commitment to constructing a next-generation sustainable port in
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Iwens highlighted the technical and engineering
expertise of DEME, coupled with the capabilities of their partners at
Archirodon, as key factors instrumental in clinching this landmark contract.
The project is set to commence later this month, focusing on
establishing the basin that will accommodate the world's largest ships at the
Port of NEOM. Notably, all materials recovered during the channel development
process will be strategically utilized to support the broader development
initiatives in Oxagon, showcasing a sustainable and integrated approach to the
region's growth.
