Diriyah Gate Development Authority launches "Traditional Architecture Gathering" to celebrate Najdi architecture

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) is organizing the "Traditional Architecture Gathering" in the historic At-Turaif District of Diriyah, celebrating the rich heritage of Najdi architecture in the modern era. The event, themed "Traditional Najdi Architecture," will take place from October 23 to October 30, 2023, and is set to bring together a distinguished group of scholars, experts in traditional architecture, specialists in traditional design and crafts, and esteemed guests from both Saudi Arabia and abroad.

Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of DGDA, emphasized the importance of this event, stating, "The Traditional Architecture Gathering serves as a significant platform for scholars, researchers, experts, craftsmen, and specialists worldwide to delve into the historical context of ancient Najdi architecture. It plays a crucial role in preserving the essence of this unique architectural style, inspiring contemporary design, and upholding ancient Najdi traditions."

 

Diriyah Gate Development Authority to host first-ever traditional architecture gathering

 

The gathering offers an opportunity for visitors, guests, and participants to closely examine the authenticity of traditional architecture and craftsmanship in the area. It will host a series of sessions and workshops dedicated to traditional and Najdi architecture while showcasing various artistic works that have shaped the identity of the ancient At-Turaif district and made a profound impact on Najdi culture, architecture, and lifestyles.

The inaugural gathering will also shed light on the historic Diriyah community and its vibrant art forms, particularly highlighting harmonious designs and intricate embellishments within streets, corridors, spaces, and the facades of buildings and houses.
