Red Sea Global and Zain KSA forge partnership to launch zero-carbon 5G network
The introduction of
the 5G network is in line with the objectives of Vision 2030, aiming to enhance
the reliance on clean energy, decrease carbon emissions, and protect the
environment.
Red Sea Global (RSG)
and Zain KSA, a leading mobile telecommunications operator, have unveiled what
is reported to be the world's inaugural zero-carbon 5G network at the Six
Senses Southern Dunes resort located in The Red Sea.
Exclusively tailored
for The Red Sea, this zero-carbon 5G network stands as the latest technological
breakthrough at the resort. Engineered with a dual focus on people and the
planet, this groundbreaking 5G network promises visitors unparalleled
connectivity speeds in the 5G domain within the region. What's remarkable is
that it will operate on 100% renewable energy generated by a staggering 760,000
solar panels, an initiative undertaken by Red Sea Global to power the expansive
28,000km2 destination in its entirety.
John Pagano, Group CEO
at Red Sea Global, expressed, “Our ambition is to lead the world as
trailblazers in regenerative tourism development. This involves adopting 100%
renewable energy for our flagship destination, The Red Sea, and striving to
achieve a net conservation benefit of 30% by 2040. Such audacious objectives
require equally audacious partners, and our collaboration with Zain KSA
transcends the realm of telecommunications, extending into the spheres of
sustainability and environmental preservation.”
Pagano further elaborated,
“Zain KSA has exhibited a profound comprehension of our requisites and has
furnished us with the requisite services and solutions to realize our strategic
goals. Together, we are resolute in our determination to effect a substantive
transformation that establishes fresh benchmarks in sustainable development.”
Engineered through
pioneering 3D printing technology, the project encompasses three pivotal
objectives: safeguarding the environment, reducing emissions via the
utilization of renewable energy, and mitigating visual disruption.
Eng. Sultan Bin
Abdulaziz Al-Deghaither, CEO of Zain KSA, remarked, “As a leading provider of
telecommunications and digital services, we take immense pride in this
accomplishment, which undoubtedly charts our course to become trailblazers in
sustainable technology provision. Through our collaboration with 'Red Sea
Global,' a visionary global developer in sustainable development, we reaffirm
our dedication to a shared vision that harmonizes the pursuit of human
prosperity with the preservation of nature and its sustainability for
generations to come, as envisaged by Saudi Vision 2030."
