NEOM becoming a hot destination for shooting movies

Saudi Arabia's NEOM development, renowned for its diverse landscapes and cutting-edge facilities, is poised to magnetize an increasing number of filmmakers in the upcoming years.

This was revealed by Ibraheem Al-Khairallah, the Creative Director and Partner of Telfaz11, a prominent media production company, during a recent appearance on The Mayman Show.

Al-Khairallah highlighted a recent agreement signed with NEOM, outlining plans for the production of nine films within the span of three years.

He conveyed, "We're delighted to announce that NEOM provides all the necessary infrastructure to bring grand projects to life in Saudi Arabia; in terms of locations, equipment, and sound studios. We're aware that a few international films have already been shot there. Now, the focus is on highlighting local talent on-site, and we're thrilled about it."

The multifaceted terrain of NEOM, encompassing sea, mountains, desert, and even winter snow, offers a rich canvas for cinematic storytelling.

Drawing parallels with the film "300," Al-Khairallah praised NEOM's world-class facilities that enable production practices similar to those employed for the aforementioned movie, which was predominantly shot within a studio setting. He emphasized the versatility NEOM affords, allowing filmmakers to capture diverse backdrops and settings.

In a cinematic twist, Al-Khairallah envisioned NEOM as an ideal location for producing "spaghetti" Westerns, reminiscent of the genre's popularity in Europe, citing the potential for Saudi Arabia to adopt this style.

Turning the spotlight to Telfaz11, Al-Khairallah elaborated on the company's focus on both local and international projects. He outlined Telfaz11's expansion strategy, highlighting the role of the theater project "Asphalt" in showcasing content. Additionally, international ventures would find a platform under Telfaz11 Studios at various festivals, facilitating networking and collaboration with globally acclaimed musicians, directors, and actors.

Al-Khairallah, known for his involvement in the successful Saudi film "Sattar," recalled the film's production as an enriching journey. His experience as a producer deepened his respect for the intricate aspects of filmmaking.

Commending Egypt's movie industry for its ability to resonate with audiences, even within Saudi Arabia, Al-Khairallah underscored the market potential for Saudi-produced films aligned with Egypt's cinematic style, including comedies and musicals. He emphasized the positive impact even a break-even outcome could have for such Saudi Arabian productions, considering it a win for the industry.
