Neom, Saudi Arabia’s $500b giga-city, has appointed UK-based Atkins, American engineering group Jacobs and Jasara Project Management Company as delivery partners for its The Line project.
Atkins is a world renowned design, engineering and project management consultancy and a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, while Jasara is a joint venture between Saudi oil giant Aramco, kingdom's sovereign wealth fund PIF (Public Investment Fund) and Jacobs.
The first delivery partner to be named was US engineering and construction group Parsons.
The flagship project of The Line envisions a unique urban living experience without roads, cars or carbon emissions.
A
linear development, The Line, upon completion will turn into a 170 km long and
only 200 m wide development that will be run totally on clean energy. The city
will boast nine million people as residents and built on a land area of 34 sq
km.
It will be surrounded by protected areas as 95% of the surrounding Neom region will be reserved for conservation.
Atkins
will provide consultancy services on The Line under a five-year contract.
