China’s Sungrow to supply energy storage system for Neom
China’s Sungrow Power Supply will set up a 536MW/600MWh energy storage system at Saudi futuristic city Neom.
An agreement to this effect has been signed
between Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power and the Chinese top solar group at the first
China-Arab States Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
During the summit, the Chinese delegation and Saudi
organizations working in energy, security, investment, and other sectors signed
34 agreements.
Sungrow said the strategic cooperation agreement
with Acwa Power will help promote close cooperation between China and Saudi
Arabia in the renewable energy industry and contribute to the Belt and Road
initiative, as well as Saudi Vision 2030.
The new cooperation between both sides is a recognition
of Sungrow's competitiveness in the field of solar and storage, said its senior
officials at the signing ceremony which was attended by Khalid A. Al-Falih,
Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, as well as Acwa Power Chairman Mohammad
Abunayyan.
The futuristic city of Neom is a vital part of Saudi Arabia's transition from its dependence on oil based economy to a more diversified and greener future in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
