NEOM hiring senior manager for space
exploration department
Saudi
Arabia’s $500 billion NEOM city has created its own Space
Policy department,t as the Gulf Kingdom plans to become a global player in
space exploration.
Entering the
space race is one of many ambitions of the Saudi Vision 2030 and an existing
Saudi Space Commission is already dedicated to “leading the space sector to
realise the Saudi Vision 2030 by developing and organizing the sector and
providing enablers to realize ground-breaking achievements.”
NEOM has
begun hiring for its dedicated space division and is currently seeking a senior
manager who will “assess the current situation within the KSA space ecosystem,
then identify gaps based on global benchmarks to come up with key initiatives,
opportunities and enablers to fill the gaps.”
They must
also define a strategy map for the space division to be mapped to the
department of communication and connectivity’s mission and objectives.
Including but not limited to enablers, internal processes, beneficiary
perspectives, mission and vision.
What
it takes to work in NEOM’s space exploration department
The job ad
for the senior space policy manager also mentions the responsibility of
providing key insight into emerging trends within the international space
community among both established and emerging players (government agencies,
industry, research, non-profit, etc).
In terms of
what it takes to work within the department, proficiency in Microsoft Word,
PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is needed, as well as a degree in a related field
to space system engineering and a decade of experience in working with strategy
and space systems.
