Film on Khalid bin Al-Walid being sponsored by GEA and Riyadh Season
Turki Alalshikh,
Chairman of the General Entertainment
Authority (GEA), visited AlHisn
Big Time Studios and Qiddiya Studios on Monday to assess progress on The Unbroken Sword, a major historical film
portraying the life of the revered companion Khalid bin Al-Walid.
The production, led by Sela and sponsored by the GEA and Riyadh Season, is considered one of the
most ambitious Arab film projects ever undertaken.
The visit comes after more than a year of intensive preparation, which has included the construction of expansive sets, development of large-scale battle sequences, and intricate action choreography designed to meet the demands of a production of this magnitude. Teams have also been crafting detailed visual elements to authentically capture the film’s historical era.

He also met with members of the creative and
technical leadership, including acclaimed director Alik Sakharov and renowned
producer Richard Sharkey. The filmmakers provided updates on the latest stages
of pre-production and key milestones ahead as the project prepares to enter its
next phase. Their goal: to deliver a world-class cinematic experience worthy of
the story’s significance and scale.
The Unbroken Sword represents one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent cinematic ventures to date, underscoring the rapid growth of the Kingdom’s film industry and the rising level of ambition and professionalism in Arab filmmaking.
