HUMAIN: New Saudi initiative to lead AI investment and innovation

Saudi Arabia has officially launched HUMAIN, a new artificial intelligence company fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), as part of the Kingdom’s ambitious strategy to become a global leader in AI development and adoption.

The launch was announced by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also serves as Prime Minister and Chairman of PIF. HUMAIN will operate as a unified platform to invest in and deliver cutting-edge AI technologies across the entire value chain.

According to a statement from PIF, HUMAIN will provide a broad portfolio of AI services, including advanced data centers, AI infrastructure, cloud solutions, and powerful multimodal Arabic large language models (LLMs). The company aims to develop and deploy AI solutions at the local, regional, and global levels.

“HUMAIN aspires to enhance human potential and unlock new opportunities through the digital economy,” the statement said. It will consolidate data center initiatives, procure high-performance hardware, and accelerate AI adoption across key industries such as energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services.

The initiative aligns with PIF’s broader strategy to build a robust AI ecosystem through international partnerships and strategic investments. Saudi Arabia’s geographic location at the crossroads of three continents, combined with its rapidly expanding digital infrastructure and youthful, tech-savvy population, positions the Kingdom as a prime hub for AI research and innovation.

HUMAIN will also support the creation of local intellectual property, foster innovation, and attract top global talent, reinforcing the country’s national AI ambitions. As one of the fastest-growing digital infrastructure markets globally, Saudi Arabia is laying the groundwork for advanced technologies with projects such as subsea cables, internet exchanges, and new data center developments across major markets.

With HUMAIN at the forefront, Saudi Arabia aims to solidify its status as a regional and global powerhouse in artificial intelligence, driving economic diversification and technological transformation under the framework of Vision 2030.
