Open water swimming competition to conclude in NEOM tomorrow
The stage is set for an intense finale as the 2024 Open Water World Cup concludes on 22-23 November at the NEOM Beach Games in Saudi Arabia. Approximately 70 elite swimmers will vie for glory in the competition's fifth and final leg, held over two action-packed days.
Athletes will compete in the
individual 10km race and the 4x1500m mixed relay, with Brazil’s Ana Marcela
Cunha leading the women’s standings and Marc-Antoine Olivier of France ahead in
the men’s. However, with 800 points still available, the championship remains
open, promising a dramatic finish.

Beach Games 2022 feature athletes from 25 countries
“I’m super excited to race in NEOM,”
Olivier told World Aquatics. “It’s a brand-new location for me, and I’m
really looking forward to exploring this new playground.”
The stakes are high, with individual
10km race winners taking home $3,500 (€3,200) in prize money. The overall
season champions will earn $50,000 (€47,500), and winners of the 4x1500m relay
will receive $5,000.

Beach Games return to Saudi Arabia
This event marks the culmination of
the NEOM Beach Games, which began on 2 November. Over three weeks, athletes
competed across multiple disciplines, including beach soccer, mountain biking,
triathlon, sport climbing, and 3x3 basketball. The Open Water Swimming World
Cup will serve as the grand finale to this multi-sport extravaganza.
