Xendee collaborates
with NEOM to drive sustainable energy transition in Saudi Arabia
Xendee, the global
leader in Microgrid Decision Support, has secured a contract to partner with
NEOM, an innovative project dedicated to crafting a sustainable city in the
northwest region of Saudi Arabia. Xendee will lend its expertise to aid NEOM in
the planning and execution of renewable energy and microgrid initiatives.
NEOM, aptly named for
its vision of a "new future," has attracted talent from 86 countries
and aspires to establish an environmentally friendly and sustainable city. With
thousands of personnel already residing and working on-site, NEOM stands at the
forefront of the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.
Xendee's primary goal
is to assist NEOM in the shift toward a renewable energy-based infrastructure,
leveraging technologies such as solar panels, battery systems, and hydrogen.
This aligns seamlessly with NEOM's ambitious objectives of achieving complete
reliance on renewable energy, creating a city devoid of conventional roads,
vehicles, and emissions, all while preserving the majority of land for natural
ecosystems.
Michael Stadler, CTO
and Co-founder of Xendee, expressed enthusiasm for contributing to NEOM's clean
energy aspirations. Xendee's platform facilitates streamlined techno-economic
analyses to determine the optimal combination of renewables, energy storage,
and smart grids for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This approach ensures
that NEOM can reach its clean energy targets while minimizing expenses and
maximizing return on investment.
NEOM's development is
already in progress, with the first destinations set to debut in 2024. The
project will unfold in phases, with various components becoming operational in
the coming years. NEOM envisions a population of one million by 2030, with an
estimated growth to nine million by 2045 as the city continues to evolve.
