Saudi Arabia: Red Sea Global delivers first infrastructure project beyond tourism developments
Red Sea Global (RSG) has completed the modernisation of AlWajh International Airport, marking the first infrastructure project delivered by the company beyond its tourism destination developments.
The upgraded airport, located in Saudi Arabia's Tabuk region, has resumed operations and is currently serving domestic flights operated by Saudia, including three weekly services from Riyadh and two weekly flights from Jeddah. International services are expected to begin in the near future.
The project forms part of broader efforts to improve regional connectivity and support tourism, business activity and economic development in northwestern Saudi Arabia.

“This project is about far more than an airport terminal,” said John Pagano, Group Chief Executive Officer of Red Sea Global. “It's about creating a gateway that connects people, supports economic growth, and opens new opportunities for communities across the region.”
Increased Capacity and Expanded Operations
Following the renovation, the airport's annual passenger capacity has increased fivefold, from 100,000 to 500,000 passengers. The terminal can now process up to 330 arriving and departing passengers per hour through four gates.
The facility has also been upgraded to accommodate a wider range of aircraft, including Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 family aircraft, as well as seaplanes and helicopters.
According to Red Sea Global, the expanded capabilities are intended to support growing tourism demand and improve accessibility across the wider Tabuk region.
“The airport has been upgraded to accommodate larger aircraft and significantly higher passenger volumes, creating the capacity needed to support future growth,” said Abdulaziz Al-Abdan, Executive Director of Aviation and Airport Operations at Red Sea Global.

Gateway to AMAALA
AlWajh International Airport is expected to serve as a key access point for AMAALA, the luxury wellness tourism destination being developed on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast.
The destination, which is scheduled to welcome its first guests in the coming months, is located approximately 45 minutes from the airport by electric vehicle and around 20 minutes by seaplane.
The airport's new infrastructure includes facilities designed to support seaplane and helicopter operations as part of the transportation network planned for AMAALA.
Design and Passenger Experience
The renovated terminal incorporates architectural elements inspired by the historic town of AlWajh and the surrounding Tabuk coastline.

Red Sea Global said the modernisation project reflects its broader role in supporting infrastructure development alongside its tourism projects, with the aim of improving connectivity and facilitating long-term regional growth.
The completion of the airport upgrade comes as Saudi Arabia continues to invest in transport and tourism infrastructure under its Vision 2030 economic diversification programme, which seeks to expand the contribution of tourism and related industries to the national economy.
